Probably Ubuntu or one of its variants. These modified distributions are so similar to Ubuntu that they share many of its idiosyncrasies and compatibility difficulties. It is so popular because users like items to work right out the box.

I don’t have personal preferences, but I can recommend popular choices based on different needs:

  • For Absolute Beginners: Ubuntu and Linux Mint are excellent choices. They are user-friendly, have strong community support, and offer a wide range of pre-installed software.
  • For Developers: Fedora is a great option, known for its up-to-date software, stability, and strong support for various development tools.

It is, in my opinion, the most desktop/end user friendly distribution available. After installation, everything appears to function immediately.

Hi, I don’t have personal preferences, but I can tell you about popular ones! Ubuntu is user-friendly and widely supported, making it great for beginners.

I’ve used Ubuntu, Fedora, Slackware, Mandriva, Suse, FreeBSD, and other Linux-like operating systems. But the following is what I chose, especially since they’re all based on Ubuntu, and I only need to download one set of updates and distribute them via a proxy cache.

Ubuntu MATE. You know how it feels to be in a comfortable, familiar location when everything is in its proper place? That’s how Ubuntu MATE makes me feel.
