Should I pick a .com or my local top-level domain for my portfolio

I found a great deal on a local top-level domain for just 1 euro for 2 years, and I’m thinking about using it for a future portfolio.

Is a .com better for reaching a global audience? I’m also considering if a local domain might help with my identity and where I’m from.

What do you think?

I don’t think SEO matters much for a portfolio, so it really doesn’t make a difference.

You could go for a .dev or .tech if you want something cool.

I prefer .net, it’s still technical and one of the original top-level domains.

Definitely go for .com first.

Honestly, nobody cares about the domain. What really matters is the quality of your portfolio.

The differences are going to be minimal at best—a .com is usually preferred, but a local domain can help you stand out in your local market.

Using a .com won’t make you any more money, so just pick what you like or what’s cheapest.

If you’re a designer, I’d recommend .Design, and for a developer, go for .dev or something similar.

While .com is the most common, using a domain that reflects your expertise is better for a portfolio.

I selected .info because it was more affordable than .com.

It doesn’t really matter unless your content is in a different language.

You might realize that even having a portfolio doesn’t matter all that much :joy:.

If you use GitHub, you can host a site for free with automatic deployment. It’s a nice setup for a portfolio since the URL is similar to your GitHub repository.

I’d say go with .com because it’s more familiar to everyone in the hiring process.
