A hammer. Sometimes systems just need a gentle mechanical massage.
If he has an office, consider something tech-related but decorative, like a poster of a coding joke: ‘I’m either coding, or dreaming about coding’. Every web developer can relate to that!
How about a quirky code-themed mug or a desk toy like a fidget spinner for stress relief?

I was also thinking about a mug that has a funny developer joke on it. You could also find a punching bag that sticks to the table.
If he uses a laptop, consider a laptop tray (with space for a mouse) to use it comfortably while away from a desk.

Alternatively, if he uses his laptop with a monitor, a laptop riser would help elevate the laptop to the same height as the main screen.
Coffee. Consider a Moka pot or French press along with some beans. If he doesn’t drink coffee, then tea.
Ear defenders, for when his boss goes off on mindless tangents?
Maybe an Apple gift card to subscribe to an app they like!
Some ETH on Arbitrum or another L2 to kick off his web3 journey.
A keyboard or other item to enhance their workspace.
A lifetime membership to some digital service would be great. Everything is often subscription-based—it’s annoying! Consider something they can use online.
A subscription service that helps enhance their web development skills would be ideal.
Are you asking us to recommend Pluralsight courses or something? I don’t get why you’d come here for gift ideas. Do you think all web developers have the same taste?

While I understand your perspective, it’s quite reasonable to look for suggestions when someone’s ‘recently started a career,’ as a celebration or to wish them success. Many new arrivals have boxes of experiences they’d appreciate.
For example, the suggestion about a duck is quite charming; it’s not something that those outside the field would typically know.

I’ve known this dude most of my life. I’ve had him as my secret Santa before, and he loved the gifts I got him. He started a new career this year after facing many difficulties, and it’s a significant turning point in his life. I wanted to mark that with a present.
So, kindly remove that stick from your rear end.
@Linden
I see where you’re coming from. Many generalize IT workers, thinking we all want to spend free time fixing issues. Even less appealing for me when I have issues in my home setup.
@Linden
Relax; this post clearly states that OP wants a tech or coding-themed gift. Why wouldn’t other web developers have ideas?
