Is understanding the backend too worthwhile for learning web development?

Is it worthwhile to study backend development alongside the front end? Am I wasting time by focusing on both areas? As a college student just starting in web development, my top objective right now is to understand the basics. However, I am often attracted by both the frontend and backend parts. My issue is whether I am wasting time by devoting equal time to mastering both, given that my current goal is to learn web development. What are your thoughts?

Learning both frontend and backend isn’t a waste of time, it helps you understand how everything fits together. Just make sure you’re comfortable with the basics first, then dive into each part as you go.

Honestly, learning both frontend and backend is super valuable. It’s like being a web dev ninja—full stack, baby! You’ll understand the whole process, which makes you more versatile. I wouldn’t worry about “wasting time”—it’s all connected. Plus, you’ll figure out what you enjoy more as you go.
