Hi, my initial website was created with Shopify, but I believe I can now take the next big step and create my own from the bottom up. Would you advise hiring a developer to create it from the ground up using WordPress?
It really depends on what you need and who you’re talking to.
I agree with Jascarb; what’s wrong with Shopify that you want to switch?
I work with a variety of developers; I sent the identical scope to two separate companies, one of which returned a $8k bid and the other $80k for the same job.
Both would have done fine, in my opinion. The $80k would have been slightly better, but not 10 times better.
Transitioning from Shopify to a custom-built website on WordPress can be a significant step, offering more flexibility and customization options tailored to your specific needs. Hiring a developer to create your website from scratch on WordPress can be a wise choice if you have specific design and functionality requirements that Shopify’s templates and plugins may not fully accommodate. WordPress offers robust customization capabilities through themes and plugins, allowing you to create a unique online presence. However, consider the complexity of your website needs, your budget, and your technical expertise before making a decision. If you’re comfortable managing and updating a WordPress site or have a team member with technical skills, building it yourself could be cost-effective. Alternatively, hiring a developer ensures professional execution, saving you time and potentially avoiding pitfalls in website development and maintenance.
