Who’s Your Favourite Domain Registrar?

NameCheap, even if they’re not the cheapest anymore. It just works.

Porkbun and NameCheap.

Nothing else for years.

NameCheap. I’ve been using them for years with no issues.

Cloudflare. Some domains can’t be managed there (like .de, which is my local market), so for specific clients, I choose Porkbun.

TransIP is my go-to. They have great documentation and lots of options depending on how much control you want. From managed WordPress to VPS (CPanel or Linux-based).

Porkbun or Hostinger.

I’ve been using DNSExit for years without any complaints. I don’t manage many domains there, just a couple.

Cloudflare. They don’t mark up costs, so it’s as cheap as it gets: Cloudflare Registrar | Register & Renew Domain Names

It doesn’t matter; you might as well go with GoDaddy. I’ve seen other good registrars get acquired by GoDaddy. It has happened three times now.

NameCheap has worked well for me for years with no problems.

I saw the word domain in the title, so I must say my phrase: ‘screw GoDaddy.’

NameCheap
I’ve used them for about 6 years now and have almost 100 domains. For most TLDs, they offer the best rates, and their support and interface along with domain management features are great.

@Sage
This isn’t accurate regarding the best rates. Cloudflare sells domains at cost, i.e., the same rate as the TLD Registries charge. There’s no markup unlike NameCheap.

Yes, Cloudflare is slightly cheaper, but they have restrictions on NS records. I prefer to manage my DNS on my hosting server, so I’ve never considered Cloudflare for domain registration.

@Sage
Honestly, Cloudflare’s nameservers are top-tier. Their proxy service and bot detection are the main reasons I use Cloudflare, but I understand everyone has different use cases!

@Sage
The interface isn’t great, but the prices are competitive. Porkbun often has better pricing with a similar outdated interface.

I’ll look into Porkbun at some point.

I’ve had a good support experience with NameCheap. On three occasions, I bought misspelled domains (realized after 1-2 days), and I got those canceled and refunded easily.

I’ve been using Hover, no issues. I wonder if I should shop around for my next domain or not. :thinking:
