Hey folks,
I’m on the lookout for a Google Analytics alternative for my WordPress site. I don’t want to self-host anything since I’m trying to avoid slowing down my site. Checked out Matomo, and while it’s got some great UX, it feels like overkill for what I need. I’m looking for something simpler that gives me key metrics like traffic source, page views, and country breakdown.
It’d be great to have the option to track custom events in the future. I’m fine with paying for a good solution. Any suggestions?

Hey, have you tried Fathom Analytics? It’s super lightweight and privacy-focused. You can track sources, pages, and countries, and it won’t bog down your site. Plus, it’s super easy to set up custom events. I’ve been using it for a while and love how simple it is compared to GA

I’d second Fathom! But if you’re looking for something else, check out Plausible. It’s lightweight, fast, and gives you all the essential metrics without overwhelming you with options. It’s also privacy-friendly, which is a big plus these days.

Hey there! Another option is Simple Analytics. It focuses on providing clear, essential stats without the clutter of GA. You get traffic sources, page views, and country details, and you can set up custom events down the road. Plus, it’s privacy-first, so you don’t have to worry about data collection issues.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is worth a shot too. It’s free if you’re already using Cloudflare, and it gives you key insights like traffic sources, country, and page views. You might not get advanced custom event tracking yet, but for basic stats, it’s pretty solid.

Maybe give GoatCounter a look. It’s open-source but also offers a hosted version so you don’t have to worry about slowing down your site. The interface is clean, and it gives you the core metrics you need. Custom events are totally doable too!

I’ve had good experiences with Clicky. It’s not as basic as Fathom or Plausible but still way easier than Matomo or GA. Real-time stats, custom events, and a pretty good breakdown of your traffic sources and countries. Plus, it has a WordPress plugin for easy integration.
