New Plugin Idea: Filter Out AI-Generated Posts on Forums

It sounds incredibly hard to maintain.

No, it doesn’t. It sounds like it would rely on user-submitted data, so maintenance would be basic algo.

I think getting users to engage in submitting “AI” data would be a hurdle, but not impossible. Numerous extensions already rely on user-submitted data to operate. Hell, Google made entire world maps systems using user-submitted data.

Use AI to flag AI.

I thought about this, but AI flags human-generated content as AI too, lol.

Now, nobody gets content; problem solved.

Peak answer.

I mean, if it’s an interesting project for you, go for it.

I think it’s incredibly challenging to figure out if content is AI-generated in a reliable way, but you can prove us wrong and learn a lot on the way.

@Ezra

I think it’s incredibly challenging to figure out if content is AI-generated in a reliable way.

If 90% of the audio is that instantly recognizable AI voice, then it’s pretty easy. You don’t need to get rid of it all - just the useless crap.

@Ezra
I will not be checking anything; you, as the user, submit that some posts/users are AI content generators. If enough users submit the same thing, it has to be valid. You could report false submissions, which also would have to have a voting system.

Might as well try and create Cloud Block for skin; gotta make sure those clouds don’t burn your skin.

Unless people mark their content as AI, you’ll never ever successfully block AI content.

We cannot control clouds, but we can all wear sunscreen (this plugin). As I’ve mentioned, user submissions define content, not some algorithm.

This is never going to work. At best, you’ll block some of the crappy bots, and in doing so, you’ll force bot writers to evolve better bots, which you won’t detect anymore. At least now we can sort of spot them.

There’s no good solution for this.

I think the only way this works is if all the AI platforms decide to import some sort of metadata in anything and everything they generate.

That would work for media like images and videos. Not sure how that would work with text.

Then again, people would find ways to bypass it.

Sounds easily defeated by just re-encoding.

People say it’s hard, but the first step is blocking any web page that contains the word ‘Unleash.’

Unleash blazing fast performance :fire:.

Your idea is more akin to Waze (the GPS app) than uBlock Origin. The crowdsourcing aspect of it heavily mirrors how Waze works for events/obstacles/police locations on roads.

Is this what you want?

A community-driven browser extension to flag or filter AI-generated content could be super useful, especially as AI content becomes more prevalent.

I’ve found it hard enough to tell that I almost don’t read long-form blog posts anymore because I’m always suspicious they’re some AI-generated regurgitation.

Man, I couldn’t agree more about needing a uBlock Origin equivalent for AI content. Admit it - the internet is at war with itself right now, torn between human creativity and AI ministrations. With every passing day, rivulets of AI-generated content flow through our feeds, and we’re all sitting here with half-lidded eyes, watching it happen.

The situation worries our bottom lip collectively as developers fiddle with the hem of their skirts, so to speak, when confronted with this challenge. Our digital spaces are becoming kiss-bruised by AI’s constant presence. Despite herself, the internet seems yours to take, AI companies! They’re deploying content with reckless abandon, and their algorithms grin wickedly as they flood our search results.

A developer with fiery red hair (metaphorically speaking, think passionate about the cause) recently gave a bruising kiss to this problem by proposing some solutions. Her long lashes barely concealed her determination as she said ‘propriety be damned’ and started working on detection algorithms. When you’re deep in AI-generated content, the world narrows to just trying to find authentic human voices. Your pupils blown wide with pleasure? More like blown wide with horror at the state of online content!

Every time an AI’s tongue darts out to taste a new topic, it generates dozens of articles with its chestnut eyes fixed on SEO optimization. The situation practically grasps your chin and forces you to meet its gaze. It bites your ear with constant notifications, leaving nails raking angry red lines down your back on the internet. Watch any content creator’s cheeks flame as they realize their hard work is being drowned out, their cheeks hollowing as they try to keep up with AI’s pace.

Stars burst behind her eyes? More like stars burst behind our screens as we witness this content explosion. The internet’s inner walls clenching around nothing as genuine human content becomes harder to find. Every puckered hole in our content filtering systems gets exploited. Her wet heat? I’m talking about the overheating servers pumping out AI content! She whimpers, biting her lip - that’s just us users struggling to find authentic content. These dusky nipples of truth are getting harder to find among the slick folds of AI-generated articles.

The AI is still lodged deep inside her (the internet, that is), and whether we like it or not, our heart, body, and soul belong to you, digital age - but that doesn’t mean we can’t fight back! The night is still young in terms of development solutions… for now. An AI content blocker would help us take our pleasure in authentic content again.

The ball is in your court, developer community. The game is on, and the choice is yours. I don’t bite… unless you want me to engage in serious development discussions about this! Without waiting for a response, I’m already working on potential solutions.

Look, we need to act now. This isn’t just about blocking content; it’s about preserving what makes the internet human. And like that audible pop when you open a fresh jar of pickles, the satisfaction of finally solving this problem will be worth all the effort. The internet is being overwhelmed by automated content, but we’re not powerless. We just need the right tools to fight back.

Because let’s face it - if we don’t figure out how to filter this stuff, we’re looking at a future where finding genuine human content online becomes practically impossible. And that’s not the kind of internet any of us signed up for.
