@Zephyr
Seriously. The pricing is outrageous for what is essentially a wrapper around S3.
I received an email from GIPHY’s marketing about an urgent update. It looks like I have 30 days to switch to Tenor before they deactivate my API key.

They just store everything on S3 anyway.
They also put intrusive ads in their mobile app. It seems like investors are demanding more revenue. Tenor seems to work just fine.
$9000 a year feels like an April Fools’ joke.
Those APIs better return a bitcoin hash with every request for that price!

Facts.
Facts, no printer.
Goodbye Giphy! It was fun while it lasted!
I don’t get the pricing. What company is going to pay so their employees can share reaction GIFs in work chats? How do you justify that expense to the finance team?

They won’t.
It’s up to the chat apps to pay for that.
Like Discord paying for Giphy integration or Slack doing it for its platform.

@Montana
So their market is just a handful of clients?
$60,000 is definitely more than $0.
Wow, that’s quite the increase.
They must have been on something strong when they set these prices.
What a shady company. They don’t even own the content on their servers.

However, they are paying to maintain those servers.
You’re welcome to create and fund a competitor.
I wonder how Slack will handle this.
