It depends. Are you using the email to generate business and would failed/missing emails be financially damaging? If so, then yes, go with Google Workspace or O365. Their deliverability is much higher as these organizations give preference to their own servers and IP space.
I always recommend separating the servers for the website from the email for my clients. I’m a referral partner for Google Workspace, which gives them 10% off their first year, and I get a small reward. My clients appreciate it because it’s easy to use, and I’m not their email help desk. It also does a great job of filtering out spam emails.
If email is critical for your day-to-day business, absolutely go for Google Workspace. If it’s more of a convenience, the included email service should suffice.
With most mass-market web hosting providers, your outgoing email will be lumped together with typical contact form spam and forwarded emails, raising the chance that your emails are misclassified as spam or blocked. Deliverability is better with Google, as they have advanced spam detection systems and more reputable sender IPs.
You’ll learn this after wasting a lot of time. It’s not worth it if your primary use case is email. Plus, any sane person would think twice before entrusting big tech with their email.

It depends on a lot of factors. The main issue is that you can’t just buy email services from Google; the plans include all Workspace services like Google Drive, etc., and even the cheapest subscription is somewhat expensive at $6/user/month (with an annual commitment). You’ll also need someone experienced to set up and maintain the Workspace tenant.
I think it’s worth it. Before we used Google for email, it took more than a few minutes per month to handle problems. Considering my costs, switching to Google actually made it cheaper.
For our users, it’s also more pleasant since they’re accustomed to the Gmail interface.
Additionally, we use Google accounts for user management in other areas, like Cloudflare Zero-trust. Overall, I find it very much worth the price.
Google Workspace is a suite of products. Apart from Docs, the Calendar booking feature and the paid version of Meet are pretty cool. Gmail is pretty solid for email already, with good anti-spam, a clean UI, and familiarity for users. If you need more than basic email, Workspace is a good option as it gives access to other professional products and features.
